• The tropics are expected to generally become more active and there is the possibility of several potential lows developing along a trough stretching from the Timor Sea to the west of the region near 90E.
• One of these lows (25U), may develop south of Indonesia in the central Indian Ocean during next week.
• The risk of 25U becoming a tropical cyclone increases to Low (10%) on Wednesday.

• A weak tropical low (25U) is forming in the Indian Ocean between Cocos and Christmas Is. This is likely to lead to an increase in showers and storms particularly at Cocos Island from Monday through to about Thursday.
• 25U is expected to initially move to the west southwest to be south of Cocos Islands then move slowly further away to the south over open waters of the Indian Ocean and well west of the WA mainland coast.

Tropical Low 27U increased risk of development early next week north of the Pilbara coast.

• A tropical low 27U is expected to form well north of the WA coast during the weekend.
• There is high variation in the location where it may form. The more likely scenario is for development north of the western Pilbara coast. At this stage it is likely to be slow moving initially and then track towards the southwest next week off the Pilbara coast. Development should be gradual, with improving chances by next Tuesday of reaching tropical cyclone strength.
• Another scenario is formation closer to the Kimberley coast during next week. The movement for such as system is also to the southwest which would bring it closer to the coast.
• 27U has a Low (5-15%) chance of developing into a tropical cyclone from Sunday, increasing to Moderate (25%) from Tuesday.

• 28U is forecast to move towards the Kimberley coast on Thursday and Friday, before taking a track to the south later Friday and crossing the coast during the weekend.
• The system may strengthen over the next few days with a Moderate risk on Friday and Saturday that it may develop into a tropical cyclone.
• By Sunday, 28U is likely to be overland, reducing the risk of being a tropical cyclone.
