A tropical low (23U) may develop in the northeast Coral Sea during the week.
An extension of monsoon flow across the northern Coral Sea from mid-week may assist with the development of tropical low 23U.
23U has a Low chance of becoming a tropical cyclone in the Coral Sea from Thursday onwards.
While most scenarios keep 23U away from the Queensland coast over the next seven days, some track uncertainty remains later in the week should it form. Any approach would most likely be as a weak tropical low.

Tropical Low 23U may form in the Coral Sea region during the week.
The monsoon flow across the northern Coral Sea may assist the formation of Tropical Low 23U in the Coral Sea.
23U is likely to remain over water as a weak system with the risk of developing into a tropical cyclone rated Low from Thursday onwards.
There is some uncertainty in its movement in the longer term with a small number of scenarios bringing it closer to the Queensland coast on the weekend.
People along the east Queensland coast should monitor forecasts for updates.

Tropical Low 23U is expected to remain as a weak low-pressure system in the Coral Sea into the weekend.
23U is located in the Coral Sea, off the north Queensland coast.
The system is likely to remain over water as a weak feature during the week.
There is chance that 21U may move closer to the Queensland coast late in the weekend, although its likely to remain offshore as a weak system. From Monday onwards, it is likely to move further away from the coast.
The risk of 21U developing is Low from Sunday onwards.
